What are the absolute basic requirements to apply?

While specific roles have different qualifications, almost all cruise lines require you to: Be at least 21 years old (some non-guest-facing roles may hire at 18, but 21 is the standard, especially for positions in bars or casinos). Hold a valid passport with at least one year of validity. Be fluent or highly proficient in English, as it is the primary safety and operational language on board. Be able to pass a criminal background check. Be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
